The Southwick Police Department operates
on a 24 hr. a day, Seven days a week schedule.

Light Bar
Our patrol unit consist of three patrol divisions:
A-Shift 07:45–16:15 hrs
B-Shift 15:45–00:15 hrs
C-Shift 23:45–18:15 hrs

Each patrol division is assigned up to three patrol officers. A Shift Sergeant and/or Shift Commander is also assigned to each shift. In addition, a minimum of one (1) civilian tele-communicator is assigned to each patrol shift in our dispatch center to which acts as the communication hub for the entire Town of Southwick. 

Calls for Service:

As part of a patrol officers’ duties, each officer responds to numerous calls for service each and every day. These calls can range from medical emergencies to motor vehicle accidents, domestic disturbances, stolen, damaged and or vandalized property, unattended deaths, child/elder/disabled person abuse, noise complaints, breaking and entering(s), burglar alarms, parking complaints, animal complaints, intoxicated person(s), traffic control, and any suspicious activities.

Self-Initiated Patrol:

When officers are not being dispatched to a specific call for service, officers will take it upon themselves to fill their time with pro-active policing. This could include motor vehicle stops, nightly building/business checks, locating wanted individuals/fugitives from justice, or anything they may encounter during the course of their patrols that may need attention and/or intervention.
